Wicked Zombies

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

Storage units

When disaster strikes, shtf and all hell breaks loose… or it’s just been a rough couple of weeks after a Zombie outbreak, survivors will need somewhere to go.

Today I’ll explore Indoor Storage Units and why or why not they might make a good survival shelter, bug out location, or even long-term solution for survivors. Once you’ve taken a look at my short-list of pros and cons, comment below and let me know what YOU think. Would it make a good location? Why or why not?

Indoor Storage Units: This 3-story building is located under an overpass roughly 600ft from a major river. The front door was pulled off its hinges, but there doesn’t seem to be any one around. Could you call this home?

Pros
• Relatively near a reliable source of freshwater.
• Potentially “endless” supplies for scavenging, including fire arms, ammunition, bedding, clothing, lighting, reading materials, construction supplies, camping gear, board games, and much more.
• Multi-story concrete building.
• Large grate-covered windows for natural lighting.
• Steel roll doors on all storage units.
• Rooftop access.
Cons
• Potential hotspot for other scavengers.
• Already been broken into, as shown by a broken door.
• Lots of area to cover for one person.
• Units will be difficult to open and may not contain anything valuable for survival.
Because survivors are often left making snap decisions based on limited information, I wont tell you ALL of the details about this location, but I have given you a few heads up like the neighborhood it’s in, how near a natural water source it is, and of course my short-list of pros and cons.
So when disaster strikes, shtf, all hell breaks loose, and the Zombies come to get you, would YOU put indoor storage units on your list of places to stay? Let me know in the comments below with why or why not and how you’ll make use of a place like this in the apocalypse.

this is a loaded question. a good one. but a loaded one none the less. lol. i can see raiding places like this just because of some of the things that can be found in them. i watch a show called STORAGE WARS quite a bit. its a show that deals with the auctioning off of storage bins that the renters default on and get auctioned off to pay the bill. and some of the stuff they find in these places is rather unique to say the least. they have found things from total junk to military surplus to rare and vintage cars. one episode showed a bin that was bought that had everything you could ever want to survive a z-poc. things like gas masks and filters, NBC suits, military clothing, even some guns and ammo. so as far as ruling out there being anything that can be used. BAD IDEA entirely. these can be total treasure troves. and as far as whether or not to stay in one goes. like anything else that would make a good safe haven. everyone will want it. so if you can take it and keep it. i dont see why not. you will need to keep in mind that you can get cornered easily in these places. so as far as a permanent stronghold. i would think it over. the units are not that hard to get into also. if you have a good hammer. just smack off the locks. if you got bolt cutters. even better. who knows. being they store whole tool chests full of tools in these things. you could end up finding some in the first few bins you crack. the possibilities are endless. and the more levels these indoor ones have. the better the chances are of finding what you could need or want. even the outdoor ones can be limitless. just more dangerous because of the fact you are wide open and visible to the zombies and other raiders. sometimes the benefits outweigh the dangers though. even if you are a solo survivor.

i agree and I've seen storage wars its cool, not a watch ever episode cool but if it comes on while channel surfing I've watched it.

i cant tell you how many times i have thought about hitting these things. i have an indoor one run by U-Haul and several outdoor ones to choose from. makes me want the z-poc even more just to loot them. lol

it would be fun, opening every locker would be like looking for buried treasure.

exactly my point. the treasures and their possibilities are so endless. they are a dream come true for those who like to DIY or something like it.

yup king of the storage castle.

getting a hold of one of these is a good way to get a good trade business going with other survivors. even a good way to pay other survivors to raid other storage bins and bring back what they find to continue the bartering and trading with.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
