Homemade Cold and Flu Cure: The Cayenne Cocktail

Cayenne Cocktail

Being ill never bodes well during a survival situation, whether you’re out in the wild, stationed at home, or walking through the ruined city streets after an apocalyptic grade disaster. Without the proper rest and treatments, something as simple as a few cold or flu symptoms: sneezing, coughing, aches and pains, fever, and general discomfort, could easily bring a survivor to their knees.

Homemade Cold and Flu Cure: The Cayenne Cocktail
Made with just three natural ingredients, you don’t have to worry about pouring any chemical sludge down your throat to start feeling better. Just mix this up, swing it down, and you should be on your way to full recovery… though a little rest helps as well.

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 cloves of finely chopped or pasted garlic (fresh garlic is best).
  • 1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (whichever you can handle).
  • 1 cup of orange or grapefruit juice (fresh squeezed is NOT needed. Warm water can be substituted if needed, though it does not work as well).

Though it might not taste great, it also isn’t that bad. The Cayenne Cocktail works best when consumed in one sitting. Combine the ingredients, seal your container, shake it well, drink it down, and let the Cayenne Cocktail do its job getting you on the road to recovery.

Whether it’s brought on by too much time in the wet and cold, a pair of unwashed hands, or another survivor forgetting to cover their cough, a glass of the The Cayenne Cocktail can help you get back on your feet again.

The Cayenne Cocktail has an unknown shelf-life and is best used immediately or within a 12-24 hour period. Mason jars are the easiest way to combine and mix the ingredients without a lot of hassle. This article and the Cayenne Cocktail are not replacements for professional medical advice.

This looks like a good thing to try. Being I lost a lot of last winters scheduled gun shows due to exposure to the flu. This could be a good way to shake those symptoms and get back to work again. Gonna give it a try this year if flu or cold hits.

I'll be making some up and having it on hand...

Tell me if it works or is a spivey crock of shit. Lol

”GRANNY REMEDY” FOR COLDS AND FLU!

http://seasonedcitizenprepper.com/the-wyzyrd-speaks-granny-remedy-f...

The best ‘granny remedy’ I know of is for flu symptoms, taught to me by a former co-worker, whose Mom was a traditional Chinese Herbalist from Szechuan Province who got out when the Maoists got totally crazy.

Make a big cup of hot green tea, add a nickel-sized slice of fresh ginger root (smash up the ginger a bit) and let it steep for about 5 minutes. Very soothing, and delicious even without unnecessary sweeteners. Works extraordinarily well.

“Grandma Penicillin” works surprisingly well for colds and flu as well. Homemade chicken soup with a lot of onion, garlic, sage and thyme (where the thymol in those cough drops comes from)

Not ‘cures’, but they’ll help make the symptoms a lot less severe.

Recipe from an upcoming (I hope) book, if anyone is interested:

GRANDMA PENICILLIN
(really magical when you’re sick)

Ingredients:
whole roaster chicken, remove and keep all bones and skin
3 yellow onions, quartered, keep skin on
1 yellow onion, diced
2 carrots, rough chopped
2 carrots, diced
2 stalks celery, rough chopped
2 stalks celery diced
large bunch fresh thyme
lots of minced garlic
2 fresh sage leaves
olive oil
slice of fresh ginger, about quarter-sized (or 2)
egg noodles, boiled, very al dente
salt and pepper to taste

Prep:
Grandma was right. Chicken soup really does help (warm fluids) . The herbs help too (where do you think they get thymol for cough drops?)

Start by skinning and boning the whole chicken, Toss all the skin and bones into a stock pot and brown everything, Cover well with water, add rough cut veggies and herbs, bring to a rolling boil, reduce to a simmer, cover and go away for a few hours (well, watch it and add more water, if needed). Dice up all the meat and reserve in fridge.

After a few hours, strain out all the veggies and herbs and discard – they’re done and have already given up all their flavor and nutrients. Let stock cool and skim off excess fat. Saute the diced veggies and add to the stock. Heat thoroughly. You may want to add more garlic and thyme :)

Now, here’s the secret: Do not add the noodles until you are ready to serve. Put them in the bowl, cover them with hot soup. Store leftover soup and noodles separately, and combine at meal time – the noodles won’t soak up all the stock and turn into ‘pudding’ that needs to be thinned out again.

It won’t taste like the stuff in the red can, but I bet you’ll like it, and it might help when you feel under the weather. :)

a quicker way to get this made is to use boneless and skinned chicken breast. as a result of using that instead. what takes three to four hours to make gets done in two hours.

Home Remedies for Cold and Flu Season :: Make Your Own Hot Echinacea Herbal Tincture

How to make a hot echinacea tincture! A powerhouse cold and flu herbal remedy

Echinacea Root is well known as one of the most powerful immune system builders and stimulators!

It works by first enhancing the quantity of immune cells in our bodies and then by stimulating them to action.

The benefits include…

  • a shorter duration of colds and flu.
  • prevention of future illnesses/infections.
  • speeds recovery from chronic diseases.

Herbs for Cold and Flu Season Health

In my quest to create the perfect winter immunity booster for my family’s health, a Hot Echinacea Tincture was exactly what I was looking for!

It combines some of my most favorite herbs for Fall/Winter health!

And now’s the time to start preparing for what we know is before us!

Formulated from:

  • Echinacea Angustifolia Root — Naturally increases the actions and functions of the immune system.
  • Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng) Root – An adaptogen, that helps the body properly respond to stress.
  • Garlic — The best broad-spectrum herb…well respected for it’s antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal and antiparasitic properties.
  • Cayenne Pepper — Capsaicin — the active component of peppers such as Cayenne, Habanero, Serrano, and Jalapeno — stimulates the body’s circulation and makes all of these already powerful herbs many times more effective!

Hot Echinacea Tincture

Ingredients

-2 parts dried Echinacea Angustifolia Root -1 part dried Echinacea Purpurea Herb -1 part fresh Garlic, chopped -1 part dried Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng) Root -1/2 part Cayenne powder

-1 quart-sized glass mason jar -1 cup boiling water -vegetable glycerin, to cover -45 ml brandy or vodka, optional but great for longer storage

Please note: Part equals volume, not weight.

Method

  1. As many herbalist recommend — and especially during the shorter days of fall and winter when the sun’s presence has diminished — I like to start this and all of my tinctures, if possible, on a new moon.
  2. Using a quart-sized glass mason jar, begin filling it with the herbs and dried plant material until it is 1/4 full.
  3. Add 1 cup of just boiled water over herbs. Then pour in just enough vegetable glycerin to fill the jar, leaving a 1/2 inch head-space. Note: Add the brandy or vodka during this step if using.
  4. Shake until well combined.
  5. Set the jar on a counter in a high-traffic area and shake it as many times as possible throughout each day.
  6. Allow the mixture to steep at least until the following full moon (approximately 2+ weeks) if you’re in a hurry. However, it’s optimal to allow the mixture to steep until the following new moon (approximately 4 weeks).
  7. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth.
  8. Pour the prepared tincture into a dark glass bottle and discard the herbs. (Note: I love these dark glass bottles for storing my tinctures!)
  9. Label your tincture with the name, date, and contents.

Adult Dosing

Basic Immune System Boost

  • 35 drops (1 dropperful) 6 times a day for a week.

Cold or Flu Treatment

  • 70 drops (2 dropperful) every hour while awake (not to exceed 8 doses), upon show of symptoms, for 2-3 days.

Child’s Dosage

I recommend calculating a child’s dose by using “Young’s Rule.” Add 12 to the child’s age then divide his/her age by that number.

For example, my daughter is 6 therefore the calculation that I will use is 6/18=0.33

I will give her 33% of an adult dose.

This tincture sounds super hot, spicy and yummy!

does this actually work?

Yeah it works as long as your ass holds out...(LOL)  A friend of mine makes something like this and last time I started down with cold he gave me a swig of it...The next day I started feeling better and then the tincture hit my intestines...All HELL broke lose...I felt like I was walking around with my ass fire and there was no way to put out the fire....(LOL)

LMAO!!! i can see it now. WEEBLE ON FIRE. LMAO!!!

LMAO

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
