well not wanting to go one on one with a zombie is a given love. when it comes down to it, who would? but if you are in a position of killing one zombie quietly with a melee weapon and saving your life or your childrens lives. or use a gun, let every zombie within earshot know where you are and get overrun and eaten. which is the more logical? and as far as being a skilled fighter goes, nobody is a skilled fighter unless trained. so Zombie Ali is still no threat. they are no different then you or me strengthwise, if anything they would be less due the decomposing thats happening. what gets a person killed fighting a zombie is carelessness and the zombie numbers. so when it comes down to zombie vs. man, if man keeps his cool and thinks before using any old weapon, then man will win everytime. so when it comes down to it. yes. a melee weapon is a must and can save your life. and all street fighting is is basic survival skills. so. you dont need training there. just stay calm. think before acting and look at the situation. if you have one zombie, use a melee weapon. two or more zombies, use the gun. my suggestion would be get a rifle or shotgun that can handel a bayonett. the average AK47 has a bayonett lug and so does the mossberg 590 shotgun. bayonetts are easy to come by and give you both the melee weapon and the firearm. the mossberg 590 uses a standard M16 bayonett be it the m7 used in vietnam or the m9 used today. for most women that are not firearm savoy, i recomend the mossberg 590. but in the end its a personal choice i guess. but i do recomend rethinking the melee weapon thing. anything can happen that you may need one and usualy does.
Ya it seems to me even getting a drop of zombie on you is a bad idea.
if you go by the movies, the only way of transmition of the zombie virus is through fluid transmition into a wound. say like infected saliva or blood in a bite or cut. but i can see your point on it. but a fact still remains that a melee weapon is a must. its not the perfect weapon but a must none the less. so why not look for the best melee weapon one can find and COLD STEEL tends to put out some of the best. and if its quiet enough to kill a zombie of any kind without alerting all the others to your location. then it is by all means a good weapon to use.

nobody is trying to argue with you love. and i understand where you come from. i am just trying to recomend things that will help you stay alive is all. i see getting the zombie's blood on you is a major thing. understandably so. infection is a factor when use of a melee weapon happens. there is another form of melee weapon that just might be right up your alley so to speak. let me recomend for you these. they should fit your zombie killing needs.
even in 28 days later they used bats and other melee weapons. like the part were the guy turned right next to her, she had a split second to beat him down with the bat. it was smart choice.
um, I train in Iaido (Jappanese swordsmanship), Tae Kwon Do, Escrima (Philipino stick and knife fighting), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Shotokan Karate. I have also participated in more street and gang fights than you have Christmas mornings. I can certainly tell you, that it makes a serious difference, and if they don't have the training, it may be better advice to tell them to get it than to tell them to not bother at all. besides, people do not look for zed encounters, but they wil happen. i can guarantee that even you would rather have a good melee weapon than an empty gun. and no, the empty gun does not make a good weapon, that is very likely to damage the weapon unless you know how to use it for melee purposes. the guns are not baseball bats, they are designed to be used in a very specific way, even for melee combat. it does you no good to brain one zed with a mosin nagant/baseball bat, and then reload and find out that the ejector got jammed and you cant pump anything else through it.
i think people mention melee weapons as fallbacks, not as primary. I train in a number of martial arts that specialize in these weapons, and can eliminate a zed in under second with my katana, from in the sheath. it is a realistic and practical defense, but not a primary. i understand your idea here, but for those who dont see it immediately, to avoid confusion, it is never a bad idea to carry a fallback after your long gun and sidearm run out. but be sure to carry the long gun and side arm as well
A friend of mine has a Ruger .22 cal. semi-auto with a banana clip that looks like a mini AK47. Normally I would go with an M-16 or AR15(non-automatic sport version of M16) because a .22 cal. is kinda pussy if you are killing live people. But for zombies its more suitable because .22's are known to bounce around inside the skull. A lot of assassinations were done in this manner. Plus it is relativly quiet compared to a bigger shell. This will minimize other zombies following the sounds of the shots. Ammo is smaller and lighter therefore you could probably carry double.
i have always loved .22 cal.s great for anyone who doesnt like recoil and noise. also very acurate.
While my preferred fire-arm would be a Mossberg auto shotgun, the need for sublety is essential when you're taking out a few stragglers without drawing the attention of the entire horde. So with that in mind,I turn to the simple machete.Light, compact, easy to hack or stab your way through 3 or 4 of the infected without becoming fast food for the rotting masses...Besides,theres always gonna be more zombies than there are bullets....

i couldnt agree more here but may i recomend a melee weapon more effective then a machete. it is the kukri combat knife. due to the design of the blade, it has 2x the chop power of a hatchet and 3x that of a machete. when the army of napal pulls these bad baoys out the people clear the streets faster then they do when they see the rifles pointing at them. reason being that when they draw these wicked knives, they dont quit till everything living is not moving anymore. these knives come in all sizes and are a very thick hunk of steel so they dont break easy. almost a 1/4 inch thick of steel. when you get around to it, check one out on the net. you wont be disappointed. trust me. i was not. and now i own one. the next thing i recomend is the mossberg 590 shotgun. after about 100 or more rounds, auto shotguns jam due to burnt powder clogging the gas ports. so when and if you choose to go shotgun. 1) go mossberg or remington. 2) always go pump. a pump shotgun will never jam no matter how dirty they get.
you really know your stuff man,and that kukuri,I've gotta get me one of them.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
