"very well..." I whisper.

A few more shells from the Hummels drop in and I wait... Im not going to give him the oportunity to fire upon me with that noise covering his shot. The shelling stops and I crawl to the edge of my cover. I make a three second dash and hit some additional cover, eventually moving far and wide enough to where I think I can move in closer to our target. I have to keep low... I'm in no mood to die today....

I figure Im almost close enough to toss my stielgranate towards the target and get him to move from his position ... without killing him....

Hans and I sat in our makeshift quarters, drinking what was left of his schnapps. I can tell by Han's face he felt for the death of his friend, but wasnt showing it outwardly. He sat there drinking and holding Franz's dogtag, stareing at it occasionaly.

"Hans...." he sat there unresponsive.... ""HANS!" He reponded... "Ja?"

"What do you want to do with that snipper? I dont trust the Gestapo, so if you want her, you better do it quickly befor they take her away." Hans looks at me nodding.... "I dont trust them either" he says.

I turn the flask upside down..... "Empty! I'll be right back... I saw a few guys had what looked like a case of wine or something. Maybe I can get something...." I get up, keeping an eye on Hans... I can see the wheels turning in his head.... I wonder what he's going to do to her. "Ill pass by where she is to see if shes still there, dont worry Komerad... you'll have your revenge." I exit the building, a cold breeze hits me in the face, as I walk to where our prisoner is being held.

As I stroll around, I see the war weary look on some of the faces, the others have the unexperianced look of fear in their eyes. I get the occasional sneer from some of the SS officers as I pass by, "pompus asses" I mumble. Not that I have anything personal against the SS, Hans and Franz are great soldiers and didnt have the superiority complex like most SS.

I made it to where our captive was being held. The small building had a couple of SS Shutze (privates) guarding the front door. I walk up to the door and they stop me.... "Halt." I look at them and say "Im here to check on the prisoner..."

The Shutze to my right said "we are not allowed to let anyone speak to the prisoner until the Gestapo return."

I look back at him and say with a smirk... " that's, we are not allowed to let anyone speak to the prisoner until the Gestapo return... Obergefreiter...!"

The Shutze replys " My appologies Obergefreiter, but know one can enter"

I wipe the smirk from my face and sternly reply..."I am here to check on the prsioner that Oberfeldwebel Hochstetter and myslef brought in earlier... if she has information that can save the lives of our Komeraden and it is not brought to our attention... the blood of our brothers will be on your hands and it shall haunt you till your miserable deaths, which wont be too long if I get a hold of you two!!!"

The one Schutze steps back and opens the door.... the other one started t speak..."but you cant...." I snap my head towards him and give him the evil eye look and he steps back. I walk thru the door and close it behind me. I smiled a bit as I walked towards the back door to where a makeshift holding room was. The two Shutze appeared to be fresh from training and had a scared look in their eyes anyway, so I had to play on their fears. It worked.

I moved to the back and saw our catch. She layed on a cot in the small room she was in. I knew a few words i Russian but not enough to hold a conversation. "Hey Russian... do you speak German?" She rolled over looked at me with tired eyes and said nothing. I tried again..."My Russian is not good, can you speak any German? Well, thats what I hope I said! I tried speaking in a German Russian mix, trying to find out whatever I could. I needed to know before the Gestapo got a hold of her, since if they get nothing from her, she done for. She stares at me with the look of exhaustion and says nothing. After a while longer talking to her in a calm voice to try and get her to open up.

"Very well, I'll let the Gestapo chat with you instead." As I turned to leave, I tossed a piece of chocolate I had with me to her and walked away. Ok, so I had a slight feeling of compassion for this poor soul. Perhaps it would be her last meal.

"My name is Marina Pavlichenko" I heard whispered from the room. I take a few steps back to look in at her. She sat there looking at me with a worried look on her face. I lowered my eyes and walked away. Theres nothing I can do for her.

As I walk out, I speak harshly to the two Shutzen on guard... "it would be wise for you two to not mention I was in here... if the Gestapo find out you let me in and disobeyed their orders, you'll probably be shot!" and then I walk away... smiling....

I search about the camp and find the soldiers that had a case of what was probably some home made Hungarian alcohol, and traded a Russian knife I had to one of the young soldiers for a bottle. I take a swig as I head back to Hans... Uhg... that was some nasty stuff, but oh well, it's all we have for now.

I open the door to the place were we staying and tossed the bottle to Hans, "here... it tastes horrible, but it's strong!"

"I found our little Russian, she's alive, for now, but I dont think she'll talk to the Gestapo, and you know what that means. If you want her, you better act soon. The guards are no problem, just threaten them, that should work."

The German, Hanz-Werner, had seemed to be a likable man who had got himself into a hairy situation. Gregory had been speaking to him all morning and now they were marching side by side. A young private had run past them and approached the Major.

"Major, I am sorry to inform you that Pavlichenko has been captured by enemy soldiers." the young man said as he saluted the major.

"I hope she's still alive when we get there."

They walked on for another two hours before the sounds of shots up ahead got their attention as a group. The handfull of troops that led were no longer visable. Everyone grew quiet as they crouched and quickened the pace, preparing for battle. The road turned up into a hill that cut off the view ahead. The major gave the signal for a flanking move and diverted some of the soldiers to the left, around the base of the hill. As the Soviets began to flow over the hill, German atrillery rocked the ground. The first key location, a very tiny town, was being used by the Germans lay on the other side of this hill. Their larger camps were very close.

Casualties were high as the Russians pushed foward and the small village came into sight. The flank was effective as they saw some of the shells going in another direction. The village became enveloped in fighting in the next moment. As more Soviets moved into postion, the Germans were easily pushed back. A bit too easily.

Marina Pavlichenko, along with a few other prisoners, came out of a bunker escorted by their fellow Russians. It would appear that the Germans left in a hurry. Some yelling ahead was heard. Were the Germans amasssing another attack? Is this a trap? Gregory began to wonder. He looked at Hanz-Werner who looked to be just as puzzled as himself. I was looking at the lock mechanism on Pavlichenko's shackles when they first were seen.

A group of soldiers, not more than a few dozen. They were wearing black uniforms, SS perhaps but not the same SS they had seen in the field. They were not wearing any camoflauge at all. And even at a distance you could see something was wrong with their faces. Their flesh was dark as was their eyes. The features of their faces seemed exagerated. Gregory thought his own eyes were playing tricks on him. The Soviets fired at the enemy. Gergory noticed a German Infantry soldier run past the mysterious troops. His face was white with fear and his eyes were wild. Moving at full speed and holding no rifle, the German was running straight into the arms of his enemy. A bullet struck him in the stomach and he doubled over. As the soldiers in black caught up to him they grabbed hold of his neck and arms and he began to scream. He was then ripped apart before their eyes as this monsterous unit began to consume the flesh and blood of their victim.

They could not believe what they were seeing. The stories heard in the night by campfire and candlelight were all true! The Germans had employed devils to do their work. This is why they had such a little presence here. They moved out before these things came into the battle. Couldn't these savages tell friend from foe? What were they fighting?

(sorry with the kill,I skipped ahead)

I have made my way into the city and to the top of a church tower. When I got to the top I heard a bloodcurdling scream, not from any Russian, but a German.

"Have my comrades already started the attack?"I said to myself.

I looked through my scope,I saw Nazis ripping apart another.

"There are killing there own men,but why."

I heard footsteps behind me,I quickly pulled out my pistol to see an unarmed German soldier.

"Please don't shoot!" He said

I am never one to ever give mercy to any Nazi, especially one that begs just like my father did when Nazis killed him.

"No."

I pulled the trigger, the bullet hit him in the stomach. He stumbled backwards and fell out a window.

I look around the corner of the building, making sure we have an escape route. Hans starts to move toward me but I raise my hand to stop him.... I appears if the Russians are falling back, there is gunfire and grenades going off in all diections... pure chaos... I hear the screams of the Russians as some of their fellow soldiers run down the street across from us.

"Get down Hans" as I lowered myself down and pushed up to the wall of the building. A lone Russian was running towards us... I raised my P38 and awaited my target.

As he turned the corner where we were, I unleased two rounds into him, he doubled over and tumbled as momentum carried him forward. I wait another two seconds and then look around the corner....

I see the Russians moving back and the SS closing in on them. The were sickly looking soldiers... pale and dirty, posibly covered in blood... and they wore their black parade uniforms. "strange" I mumbled... "what is it Karl?" Hans whispered...

At that moment I saw a Russian that was crouched behind some rubble fire his Moisan Nagant three times and then drop his weapon and try and scurry back on his hands and knees screaming in terror....two of the SS soldiers overtook him with their bare hands, one looked as if he was shot in the chest a few times, the other was just as bloody and making a deep groaning sounds, they began to tear into the Russian ripping his flesh and what appeard to be biting him. The Russian lets out a scream like I have never heard before.

I quickly turned away and looked at Hans.... "we need to get out of here.."

Hans looked at Karl and questioned, "what's wrong? You look like youve seen a ghost!"

The Russians screams stopped.... I looked aound the corner one more time... I saw the two SS men burying their faces into the Russian, one appeared to be eating his arm and the other was tugging on his intestines. "Theyre animals! what the hell is going on?" I yelled to Hans. Hans replied.."what? Let me see..." as he began move closer to me I looked back at the bloody scene and one of the SS men spotted me.

"Scheisse" I murmered.... The SS man was getting up and heading our way.... "Lets go!" I exclaimed. Hans saw the urgency in my face and didnt question me... "we can go through that building and head South of the city" I yelled "Go go go....."

We hurried into the building and I closed the door behind us catching one last glimpse of the SS soldier... or whatever he was.

"quick, out that back door and head to the tree line!"

We cautiously looked around before we made a dash to the tree line. It was maybe 200 meters from where we were. We could still hear the gunfire and screams behind us. "lets go..." said Hans

Just as we left the building, a Russian turned the corned, pale as a ghost and had the look of sheer terror on his face. Hans spun around and put a few rounds from his pistol into the Russinan and moved on. About halfway there I heard the sound of some more Russians running up behind us. I spun around and dropped to one knee, "keep going Hans.. I'll catch up" I raised my Sturmgewehr  and fired a few bursts into the oncoming Russians who were running full out and didnt seem to mind running into a hailstorm of bullets. I quickly look back and saw that Hans and our little Russian friend made it to the woods. I got up and ran to where they were last seen.

"what the hell is going on out there?" Hans barked...  I replied, "those SS men are insane, pure ravenous animals! They were tearing into the Russians with their bare hands and teeth! The were eating them for Christs sake!!!"

Hans looked at me in shock. "what? you cant be serious?" I interupted him.."Im dead serious... we need to move out of here, there is a farmhouse not to much further down the road. Well be safe there and we can plan our next move."

"Allright then, lets go." Hans said as he picked up our Russian and moved out. I reloaded my Magazine and kept an eye out behind us. I didnt want the Russians or those crazed SS men to follow us.

We moved at a swift pace through the woods and made it to the road and could see the farmhouse in the distance.

"Not much further Hans..."

Karl lifts his head...."this is insane.... our damn fuhrer has totaly lost his mind!"

"We need to secure our location, I dont want anyone or ...thing... to sneak up on us. Keep an eye on our friend here."

Karl gets up and runs around the barnhouse closing all the windows and doors. He looks up a ladder to the loft... "I'm heading up for a moment, I'll see if anyone has follwed us." Karl shoulders his Stg and climbs up the rickety ladder.

Down below Marina begins to stir again..."oohhh my head" Hans glances at her "quiet...."

Up from the rafters comes "seems to be clear around us, Im coming back down." Karl climbs down the ladder to see the Russian waking.... "Greetings Marina, glad to see you awake again!" Karl says with a smirk, "did you get the chance to enjoy the chocolate?" Karl asks as he gently slaps her on the back. He then walks back to the front doors to peer out of the cracks to look around. "We should be safe here for a while at least, no telling for how long."

They started to attack my comrades on the ground, ripping their insides out and eating them.I climbed down the tower,I couldn't look at the horrors anymore. When I got to the bottom I was face to face with one of the Nazi soldiers I saw killing there own men and my comrades. He had bullet holes in every inch of his body.I quickly drew my pistol,it didn't phase him at all.I shot him in the knee cap,but there was no scream of pain and he stayed up.Thats when I shot him in the head, and he droped to the flour.

"Nothing is invincible, but what exactly is it."I said to myself.

Suddenly, many of them burst through the church doors,to many for me to handle,I ran as fast as I could out the back of the church.

I could see some thick woods and I quickly ran in,ether I was going to find a place so stay,or I was going to freeze to death, but I will never be killed by one of them.

Karl continues to move about the barn, looking out through the cracks here and there. The sound of gunfire in the distance is keeping him on high alert.

He walks past Hans and the prisoner. Looks at them as Hans continues to ask her questions. Marina looks at Karl as he walks past.

"I am over here... pay attention! Answer my damn questions!" Hans barks at her. She looks back at Hans and sneers.

Karl has moved to the side of the barn and looks through a hole in the window shutters. "Shhhh, I see someone moving this way..." Karl glances back to the two of them.... "Keep her quiet" In the distance a Rusian soldier is moving quicly towards the barn. He was probably another sniper... he had a nice scope on his Moisin Nagant.

Hans ready's his Luger and jumps behind Marina and covers her mouth with his hand.

"I'm going out and around the building.... we need to be quiet" Karl runs to the other side of the barn and creeps out of a small door. He slowly moves to the corner of the building and spots the Russian closing in.

The Russian soldier slows down and readies his weapon as he approaches the barn. He cautiously moves in... trying to get a glimpse of the inside, but cannot since it is all closed up. As he turns the corner, Karl lunges at him and knocks the Russian down rolls him to his stomach, kneels on him, and puts his pistol to the Russians head. "dont move" Karls whispers in what he hopes is russian... The Russian looks back at Karl with anger. Karl glares at him and then points to the woods in the distance. It appeard to be three of those SS creatures. "Quiet, I would have shot you but I dont want to attact any attention right now" Karl speaks in broken Russian. "Get up and come with me. If you try anything... I will kill you."

Karl gets off the Russian and he slowly gets up. "You can run if you want... It's either them or me, your choice..." Karl states.

The Russian soldier puts his hand on his head and looks at Karl... "I'll take my chances with you" Karl picks up the Russians rifle and leads him to the other side of the barn and pushes him in. "We have another guest Hans!" Karl speaks quietly.

"Tie him up over there" Hans said.

Karl leads the Russian to a stall and ties him up to a post. "Be quiet.. and enjoy your stay" Karl laughs and walks away.

"We also have a few of those SS monsters roaming in the woods. I suggest we remain quiet for a while." Karl suggests.

Marina looks at the other Russian and looks back at Hans in disgust.

Karl goes back to his routine of peering out of the barn to keep an eye on things.

(sorry for missing alot of posts)

As I am tied up to the post I start talking to myself.

"So,this is how it's going to end,Helsa. I really wish I could see you one last time,Helsa. But I already know this Nazi is going to shoot me on this post and then feed me to the dogs. I never wanted to be dog chow."

I look at the Russian girl, she looked familer to me.

"Hey,whats your division Comrade?"

Karl looks back and sees Hans handing Marina her ammo, and thinks to himself, I hope he knows what he's doing.

Karl has been nervously watching the woods in the distance. Every now and then he spots some movement. "The sightings are increasing Hans, Im seeing more and more activity." He looks back... "it looked like there might have been some Russians, but they dont seem to be in a hurry."

Karl noticed the tied up Russian's head lift up when he mentioned Russian troops. Karl glared at him and spoke in his broken Russian..."Keep your mouth shut unless you want this barrel in it." as he pointed his Stg at him..."dont get any funny ideas." The Russian lowered his head with a snear on his face. "Say your prayers that your still alive, I could have killed you earlier. Dont make me regret it."

Karl looked back outside "Damn! .... Hans, movement coming from the woodline..."

Hans ready's his weapon and asks, "what's the situation?"

"Russians, four of them and looks like ... two civilians... they, they look like hell!" The figures continued to shuffle towards the barn. "they're moving this way, they look like they were blown apart, they're bloodied, my god, one is missing an arm."

Hans questions, "are they the wounded from the battle?"

Kard replies, "Shhhh, my god, they look like corpses, pale, lifeless eyes.....blood everywhere" Karl raises his weapon. "They look like those SS monsters!"

At the mention of that, Marina perks up and looks toward her rifle in the distance. The tied up Russian starts to look nervous. Hans notices their activity and keeps an eye on both of them. "Take them out Karl..."

"No problem..." Karl takes aim and fires a short burst into one of the Russian monsters moving in. The rounds punch into the Russians chest and blood spews from the impact and the Russian falls back. The others take no notice and continue moving forward. Karl takes another burst into the next two moving in... the 7.92 Kurz bullets riddle the bodies and knocks them down. Karl shifts fire to the civilians moving in but stops. "My god...." He notices the first Russian getting back up. "I killed him... he took three shots to the chest... I killed him!" Karl fired another burst into the Russian creature. The bullets pierced his body and one hit his head and blows a piece of the skull off. This time the body slumps down, motionless, blood draining from the body.

"Karl, what's wrong?!" Hans shouted.

"They wont die! Look those others are getting back up after I puts some rounds into them!!!"

Hans runs to the window and watches Karl put a burst into one of the civilians chest, the figure takes the hit, falls back blood dripping from the wounds, and within a  few seconds, starts to get back up. "This is insane!" Hans exclaims.

Marina and the other Russian have the look of terror on their faces. Marina shouts out, "what have you Nazi's done to our comrads?" she gets up and runs up between Karl and Hans to look outside. "No.... No...No, this cant be hapening!"  Marina turns to Hans and starts to swing wildly with her fists at him. Hans quicly avoids the barrage of blows as Karl grabs Marina. "This is not the time Marina, if these things get to us, were all dead!" Karl then pushes Marina away.

Karl looks back out the window, "Hans, look, that one isnt getting up, over there" as he points to the corpse with the hole in the head.

Hans takes aim at one of the civilians, and hits him dead center in the chest. You could see the sternum expolde as the round punctured it. The body flew back and then struggled to rise again. Hans then fired again, this time the shot hit right between the eyes. The back of the head burst out with a shower of blood , skull and brain matter. The creature slumped over and did not rise again.

"Nice shot." Karl remarked.

"Look, the head shot keeps them down... we now know their weakness" Hans remarked.

Marina moved back to the window between Hans and Karl as the German soldiers took careful aim and dispatched the rest of the creatures.

After the last body dropped, they all looked at each other with the look of unbelieving. "this is not going to end well if we dont move out of here soon. Who knows how many more are out there." Karl remarks. "Do you want to wait till morning Hans? You think we can hold out here for the night? And what about them...?" as Karl looks towards Marina and the other Russian.

I slowly pulled my knife out of the former Feldwebel, grimacing at the sucking sound as I withdrew the blade from the back of his skull. I sheathed it at my waist, and removed the holster and officers belt with the long barreled Luger in it, putting it on and checking the clip. It was full, which was a blessing.

I was only 17, but was a Corporal. When the Fatherland ran out of men, they made them out of boys by slapping on a uniform, sending them off, and sooner or later the strong ones would be found, the weak ones dead. I grinned, for I knew I needed to get back to Vati, tell him all about this. And meine Freunde, they would need to hear about this too. I checked my Luger, and started off down the hallway, my hobnailed Fallschirmjaeger jump boots clicking on the floor, my thick Leather SS coat giving me the only protection I had from those things...

"Only if I had my knife,I'd be able to cut through these ropes, but it seems I may have to cooperate with these Nazis"I mumbled to myself.

I was starting to wonder how long it would take before they would ask questions,But it was hopeless the chances of them even talking to me are slim.

"If there going to shoot me why don't they just do it." I said to myself.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
