Catwoman cast in Batman 3
The actress will be following in the footsteps of Michelle Pfeiffer and, less successfully, Halle Berry.
Christian Bale is returning as the film's hero, and BAFTA-nominated Tom Hardy will be playing the villain Bane.
Director Christopher Nolan said in a statement: "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."
Hathaway, who recently landed a guest role in 'Glee' and will also be presenting this year's Oscars, reportedly saw off competition from Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz, Blake Lively, Jessica Biel and the pregnant Natalie Portman for the part in Christopher Nolan's third Batman movie.
Christian Bale previously said that the movie, scheduled for a 2012 release, could be the last in the franchise, commenting, "We've got to up it." That would certainly be the case if the film is to stand any chance of topping the success of 'The Dark Knight'.
The film won't be shot in 3D but the IMax format instead and it seems unlikely that Killer Croc will appear among the villains as previously speculated.

Hathaway will make an awesome Catwoman. I'm still mixed with Bane being in it and the actor they chose for him. I wish they put Riddler or Killer Croc instead. We'll see how it goes.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive
