Outbreak Chapter 18

Brendon and the other man both got into the back seat of the Explorer and as soon as all four of them were inside he saw Rebecca hit the lock button for all of the doors while Aidan started up the vehicle. Brendon leaned forward and reached his left hand up to hit the button the opened up his moonroof. "Head to Wiggins' place and try not to throw me out," he said to Aidan as he climbed up and stuck his upper half out of the top of the vehicle. He got into position just in time to see an infected man slam up against the passenger window. Both Rebecca and the man sitting behind her let out small yells of surprise but the window held up against the infected man's pounding. Brendon drew his XD, looked down the pistol's sights and squeezed the trigger. The man slumped down to the ground as the full metal jacket round blew through his skull and hit the car parked next to them leaving a blood splatter across it's grey door.
Brendon just nearly had the wind knocked out of him as his torso hit the edge of the moonroof when Aidan put the vehicle in reverse and slammed down on the accelerator. Once they were out of the parking stall Aidan shifted the car into drive and the four of them were off. Brendon felt a hand grasp his pant leg but with all of the wind rushing by his head he could only vaguely hear the man in the back seat thanking them for taking him.
