With all of the guns and ammo out Brendon went to the kitchen and started boiling a pot of water to disinfect his KaBar in. He had seen how a melee weapon could be effective if things got up close so he went to his room and tried to find anything that fit that role. He had an assortment of pocket knives, multi-tools and three more hunting knives with blades at least six inches. He also had his AK-47 bayonet that he wasn't sure could even fit on the rifle with all of his modifications, but at least made a decent fighting knife. On the top shelves in his closet he also found his hatchet and a pair of double-edged throwing knives that he had almost forgotten about.
He brought all of the weapons into the living room and Aidan attached the two throwing knives to his belt while Rebecca opted to take one of the hunting knives. He threw everything else into the pile of gear to be packed away. The only other things he could think of that could be potentially useful would be the rest of his military gear. He had dozens more ammo and equipment pouches that could be attached to the molle straps on the vests and packs. He spent some time attaching more pouches to the rucks and assault pack for extra storage space then threw the rest of the pouches along with other miscellaneous military gear that could come in handy into the pile of gear to be packed.
He was now convinced that he had gotten everything that could be of use out of his room. Rebecca was sitting on the living room floor next to the large pile of supplies they had stacked up splitting her attention between watching the news for updates and carefully loading supplies into the packs. Aidan was sifting through the kitchen cupboards bringing armfuls of nonperishable foods over to the pile. Brendon walked over to the kitchen and helped Aidan get more food from the kitchen. Within a few minutes they had gotten the last of the food brought over to the pile of supplies to be loaded up.
