The Infected Attack Police Lines

The brief period of cooperation between civilians and police was shattered last night.

Hundreds of masked youths took to the dimly lit streets of Gellerup. Running battles with riot police took place on many main intersections. Tear gas canisters were launched in an effort to disperse the mob. Molotov cocktails were returned as their answer.

Dozens of streets within the city were subject to attacks as the protests entered their most violent day.

Fire crews battled throughout the night to put out a huge blaze at a gas station at Birgitteve.

Looting
Several shop owners report incidents of looting. Gangs racing down the streets, in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the police. Many drunk on stolen alcohol, taking advantage of the chaotic situation.

Television news, Twitter, BlackBerry and other social media have all been blamed for provoking an atmosphere of 'dissatisfaction and entitlement' that has encouraged youths to take advantage of the situation and loot local businesses.

In a developing situation deemed 'very serious and troubling' by Police commissioner, Nicholas Kurt Højbjerg, some local residents have begun unlocking the undead. Freeing them from their concealed places. Worse still, there are reports of gangs 'herding' the reanimates towards police lines.

One ZWN iReporter, Nicholas Quin, describes the situation: “I saw a bunch of people with long fences, like the type you use for road works, and ladders and anything that was long like that. They were using them to move the slow zombies down the street. Sort of like they were corralling them. Like cattle. There was even a couple of vans being used. Like horses. Pushing them towards the cops.”

Tear gas
In a controversial tactic, the police are launching tear gas at the demonstrators in the understanding that those who do not disperse will be considered walking undead, and therefore legitimate targets for deadly force.

Helmet mounted heat sensors are aiding the police in establishing the live from the undead. The low heat signature emanating from the deceased is a tell tale sign of zombification.

Specially trained cadaver dogs, although on the scene, are being limited to house to house searches at this point.

485 arrests have been made. The majority for looting and anti social behavior. 135 Undead have been discovered hidden in the sprawling housing estate. They have all been reportedly re killed. 27 police have been injured, 6 seriously, and 9 police cases of infection with the necro-mortosis undead virus.
