Is there a certain zombie book or short story that blew you away? I have read some cool stories on this site so what are you guys reading to inspire you? I love most all zombie novels. Even the crappy heavily flawed self published stuff. Tell me!

OK questions and answers. Is that an independent vampire book or one of a series? I know he likes to do trilogies.
It goes The Rising, City of the Dead, and Scenes From The End of the World. Dead Sea is it own book that feels like it from the Rising universe but has some differences. I liked Dead Sea, but it isn't great. Dark Hollow might be my other favorite Keene book. OOHH Wait, Ghoul is awesome too.
You gotta check out Scott Sigler.

So far the Wellington vampire book is killer. I'm just short of halfway through it though so I'll have to report back on it. I picked up another Keene book called Dead Sea hoping it was part of that Rising universe but am now worried that it's a sequel to something else. I'm a little confused about his continuity. I lucked out and got The Rising before City of the Dead so that worked out but now I'm unsure if something else needs to precede Dead Sea.

Patient Zero was fantastic and Jonathan says the sequel is coming soon but not zombie related. Yes, lots of ass kicking action in that book!

I've not read History is Dead (don't have it) and haven't read any of Paffenroth's books yet. I have a copy of Eden but haven't cracked it yet. Looking forward to it. Joe McKinney did a great job with Dead City and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

YES!! I have been waiting for somebody to read a Wellington vampire novel so I can find out if its as good as his zombie work. You also need to check out the third book in the Rising series called Selected Scenes From The End of The World I think. There are more stories from the Rising universe that Keene created in his newer book of short stories called Unhappy Endings.

Man, I thought Patient Zero was fantastic. I had low expectations and it was actually really good. Lots of serious ass kicking if I remember right. I love MMA so this story appealed to me greatly. I think the main characters name was Joe Ledger and I will read more books on this fake dude in a second.

History is Dead was also great. Compilation by Kim Paffenroth that has some cool and kind of cool stories with zombies interspersed through history. Kim is a writing master and we are very lucky he is writing a threequel to Dying To Live. In this book is another great author we recently talked about on here name Joe Mckinney. Let me know your favorite story in that book please.

I can't stress how much everybody will like Eden. I think I am gonna reread that mofo!

WWZ is cool ... so is the Zombie Survival Guide that Max Brooks did. Lots of fun. Zombie Haiku is pretty cool and funny. I finished City of the Dead the night before last and really enjoyed it. I'm now reading 13 Bullets by David Wellington (a vampire novel) and loving that.

I love Zombie films and novels, so I was prepared for suspense and survival but this book really impressed me. The premise is a secret US organization that deals with terrorist threats. There is a kombination of an enemy (undead); a greedy industrialist and a Middle Eastern group dead set on proving that the West ideas is evil. It was terrifying and I kould not put the book down.

Read WWZ, currently reading History is Dead (an anthology of zombie/undead stories) Pretty good, get different perspectives including from the undead themselves, kinda cool.

He said it was going to be called "Resistance" who knows though, that stuff changes all the time

I remember writing Joe McKinney and hearing back that a sequel was in the works. Glad to hear it's close. I really enjoyed that book. Great pacing ... didn't want to put it down. I'd heard that there was a sequel in the works for Day by Day also. Looking forward to them both.

Patient Zero was cool too ... a great techno thriller with zombies! What's not to like there. I'm not sure if I'll pick up the sequels though as they won't be dealing with zombies from what I'd heard. I've not picked up any of Paffenroth's books yet. On my radar though.

I just ordered Deeper! It sounds cool and I love most stuff out by Necessary Evil Press so thanks for the suggestion.
Lebbon and Clark are both British authors and they rule!
I also loved Day by Day, and Kim Paffenroth has great zombie stories also. His stuff is a little more introspective and he is a nice as hell dude.
I see you read Dead City. I was lucky enough to meet Joe Mckinney at a horror festival in Dallas and he was great also. The sequel is on its way and his description of it was super exciting. Coming out through Permuted Press but I forgot what it is called. I have written its name somewhere on this site before so I will scout around for that.

Last week I also read a couple of non-zombie books in addition to The Rising: The Wolfman by Peakero (excellent book!) and Deeper by James A. Moore (lot of fun ... loved it!). Both were very enjoyable and I'd recommend them. I'll have to check out Tim Lebbon and Simon Clark. I'm not familiar with them.

Day by Day Armageddon is pretty damn good. I'd highly recommend that one as well.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
