Wicked Zombies

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

As I sat here and watched some of my zombie flicks. My mind pondered to the literature that I read. The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. Then it came to me as to what he said in it. He told us that zombies cant climb things like stairs or ladders or at best have trouble doing so. Again either a good example of a man not doing his homework. Or he just LIED!!! Reason I point out such a little point of order is because while I watched the classic Dawn of the Dead (1978). I noticed zombies doing just that. CLIMBING!! They climbed escalators while the power was off in the mall like we would climb stairs. They also at the end of the movie, climbed a ladder to the roof after what was left of the heroes of the movie as they flew away in the chopper. Then I saw another example of zombies climbing. They climbed the fence as the girls turned on the power to the amusement park "Pacific Playland" in the movie ZOMBIELAND.  So riddle me this. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?!! We in some cases have been basing our defenses on Max Brooks writings. If the movies are the best thing to a true survival guide, then we better be rethinking our whole strategy on survival and zombies being able climb.

see. this is my point exactly. the guide said that a zombie cant climb stairs or would at least find it difficult so to destroy the star case leading to the second floor. but if we did that, we would only trap ourselves. and as far as learning goes. even the most primitive of apes learned to use tools. like the chimpanzee learned to use limbs as clubs. so as far as figuring out how to use and climb a ladder. i dont see where the zombies cant learn to do that either. a lot of things in my opinion need to be rethought as far as the I.Q. of the dead go. also if i may point out. in some cases the dead did in movies like ants do. when their cohorts fall along a wall and the bodies start to pile up. they just climb up the bodies that are piling up. this give them the same way ants do. a means to get up a wall or to cross a moat. see my point? if the most small minded of primates and insects can adapt then why cant the undead? after all we are them and they are us. they just work on a less perfect level.
insects and primates still think though...they are capable of rational "thought" when it comes to survival, and when your talking about a dead body, the joints and the muscles and tendons and all that sweet stuff that makes our bodies function, simply wont function, if they cant bend theyre legs at the knees they cant climb steps, if they dont have muscles to hold theyre weight and pull themselves up they cant climb ladders, etc...sure they may be able to walk over a pile of bodies, Ill give you that much, but anything more complex than staggering along mindlessly I dont think poses too much threat...unless its a rage virus of course...
they are a little stronger then you give them credit for. where you and i have limits to our strengths because our bodies tell us when to stop. theirs dont. plus the fact that rigor mortise has set into the limbs gives them a degree of rigidity that wouldnt normally be there. also you are severely underestimating their I.Q. because they retain a certain degree of what they were in life. and there in lies the real threat. because like i said once before. we are them and they are us. they just work less perfectly is all. plus when planning to fight an enemy that has yet to be encountered. do you really want to leave things to chance? we dont know for sure what they can do. better over prepared then under prepared.
I know we really have no way of knowing for sure, but I fail to see how they can possibly be stronger than us, there bodies are frail, and your point of rigor mortise  actually further backs me up, the stiffness of their limbs will limit their mobility, and I.Q? I suppose thats the great unknown, due to the fact that a zombies brain is technically still functioning...but on some sort of subconcense (sp?) level... I dont think they are capable of rational thought though, problem solving...(of course in my current short story I go against this as they begin to learn flanking maneuvers and what not lol)

before i go any further. have you ever touched a dead man? i have. yes. it will be stiffened up in the limbs with rigor. and with that said. add that to a firm average mans grip can make for a very hard hold to break. and there is a trick that morticians use to be able to work with a corps. when a body gets rigor mortise. the mortician can "break it out" so to speak by flexing the arms and legs. this allows them to dress a body for viewing. otherwise they would have to cut up the clothing totally and sew the clothing together as they apply them to the body. but by breaking out the rigor. all they have to do is cut the shirt and suite coat up the back. apply them and tuck the open ends under the body. the pants, with the legs now limber. can be pulled up and fastened like usual. they also break out rigor in the hands so things like rings and other jewelry can be applied. all this is done in one 8 hour night shift so all that needs to be done is for the resident cosmetologist to apply the makeup and then have the funeral at the families discretion. the reason i know this is because i had a friend who worked as a mortician. i helped break the rigor out of a man being embalmed that night. why i said yes to this day is beyond me. but i learned a lot about the human body and death that night. but one thing i need to point out. even a person who dies and not attended to by a funeral home that comes back to life can eventually move freely. reason being they are flexing their own stiff muscles. they are breaking out their own rigor mortise. so in time. less then 2 day tops. they will be able to move freely like us. maybe not as perfectly. but very much like us. as far as their intelligence goes. that will remain to be seen when the dead do walk again. i to doubt they will have rational thought. but like i said before. even the most primitive of apes learn to use clubs and rocks as tools. so i do feel we will have this problem to deal with in hand to hand confrontations with zombies. but again this is my humble opinion.

Everyone's interpretation of what zombies can do is different. i personally think they lack the motor skills to climb, or climb ladders at that!

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
