I would go with an art coffee table book. They're typically large, thin yet still kind of thick, glossy and prone to paper cutting and have lots of width for hitting. If your zombie was rotted, you may be able to slice it's head off. Yeah.

I worked the Children's section of Half Price Books so there are some wild kids books that would be handy. Then I worked in the Automotive/Sports section for a while. There are some hefty books there too.

um, I would prefer to stick to my martial arts training for this situation. Front kick the rotting thing into whatever wall or lamppost that is available, then proceed to smash its skull into the hardest available surface with my boot

i never thought of a book to use as a weapon before. but if i had to. i would use a PLAYBOY centerfold collection from 1960 to present. it would be thick and heavy, so it will do the job. lol. but if all else fails, grab a phone book from the city you live in. roll it up tight like a log. and pretend you are MICKEY MANTEL going for a home run! works everytime. lol.

How about one of those enormous old fashioned family bibles,they're huge.
Excellent for stoving heads in & could be seen as devine intervension.
