YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

Ranger bands are both extremely useful, and easy to make. Back when Alice-clips were still in heavy rotation, army rangers started using small sections of inner-tubes as a way to keep their gear more secure and silenced during their missions and training. These bands quickly gained popularity, and eventually became known as “ranger-bands”.

Primarily used for attaching gear, cushioning tool/weapon handles, or as emergency tinder (though the smoke isn’t good for your lungs), the use of a ranger-band is really only limited by your creativity and needs. A well sized ranger-band can make an excellent lashing, handle grip, or attach point, and provide a strong high-friction surface with great shock absorption… no to mention quick and easy waterproofing for things like fire-kits in and other survival necessities.

While the “real” thing is available from retailers, you can easily make ranger-bands from a bit of bicycle tubing. This is the best option as the materials can be found for free, and you can customize the size and width of the bands to better suit your needs.

Tools: Scissors or sharp knife.

Materials: New or used bicycle inner tube (you can typically get used tubes for free from your local bicycle repair shop, so check there first).

Step 1. Make one cut through the tube and lay it out flat.

Step 2. Decide how thick or thin you want the bands to be and start cutting. Try to make the cuts in one clear stroke, or you may weaken the integrity. Keep in mind that the wider the bands are, the more difficult it will be to stretch them.

Step 3. Start using your bands to attach gear, and ready yourself for real survival.

Tip: If taken apart, some ranger bands can be used for a makeshift slingshot!

this is why i keep a bicycle inner tube in my bug out bag. that way i have a means of getting more of these little trinkets when i need them.

yeah i think i'm gonna hit up the bike shop soon.

Looks like I'll be in search of these damn things after the first of the year. Which I could always take the one out of my kid's bikes. Hell the hardly use them...Plus they both need bigger bikes...(L) But will look to see what walmart has...(L)

Walmart is where i get them at. i cut them up into different sizes and sell them at .25 cents a piece. had a guy buy out my who stock of them that day. 20 shoe boxes of them. they are very popular.

or you could go to a regular bike shop and ask for the old tubes they are gonna throw away. that way its free.

done that to. lol

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game.
