so while researching for my zombie hunter con costume i fell in love with post apocalyptic cosplay. everything from fallout props to original works. it's just such a cool look and you can do anything with it. it requires little money if you know how to scavenge and helps prepare all of us for what it's gonna be like after they rise. i felt wickedzombies was a good place to bring this to help expand the site. so with all that in mind I'm going to be posting cool stuff i make and design here. and if you catch the bug or maybe if you already have it then i welcome you to post your stuff here too.

Actually, if you have a box fan, a couple pieces of metal and some ice, I can kind of get you close to having cool air blowing on you....

  1.    Take one strip of the metal and bend it to form a cruel looking J.
  2. At the top of the J, take about 2 inches and make a 90 degree bend in it. (It just has to be enough to lap the top of your fan.)
  3. In the crease of the cruel looking J channel, drill holes every 2 to 3 inches.
  4. Cap the ends of your J channel.
  5. Follow steps 1 and 2 for the bottom J channel
  6. Do Not drill holes in your bottom J channel
  7. Cap one end of your bottom J channel
  8. attach top J channel with holes to top of fan
  9. Fasten capped end of bottom J channel flush to bottom of fan.
  10. At the opened end of your bottom J channel, place a medium to large metal washer between J channel and fan and fasten..
  11. Place a small bucket or a large bowl under the opened end of J channel.
  12. Fill top J channel with Ice cubes and turn fan on low.

As the ice melts in the top J channel, the holes will cause droplets to land in bottom J channel. As the water falls through the holes, this causes the air being pulled or pushed through the front of the fan to cool down because of the coolness from the melting ice water...

I know this works for a small room, because I've done this several times in order to cool of my room when I was living with friends who never even heard of air conditioning...(L) Usually took about to bags of store bought ice to cool off my small 24X24 foot room...But if you make your own ice using ice trays, will cost less.....

But it worked for awhile...Just till I was able to afford a window unit. Then all hell broke loose after I got that damn thing...(ROFLMAO) POWER BILL!!!!  (ROFLMAO)

yeah i actually built something like that awhile ago didn't make it as fancy as yours. just a cardboard box with a whole cut in the bottom of one side. also sliced the bottom of a red plastic drink cup and taped it over the hole to act as an air channel. cut a big hole on the top of the box towards the other end away from the other hole. it was just big enough to fit this desk fan i had. filled the inside of the box with frozen 2 letter bottles. the fan blow air down over the ice and out the plastic cup. even had a little peace of plastic inside the cup so i could channel the air in any direction. called it my hillbilly air condition/ worked fine but lugging all those soda bottles up and down the stairs was a big pain in the ass. that and it filled up my entire freezer so i eventually gave it up. sill got it sitting in the corner though waiting.

I'm no metal work pro, but it didn't turn out to bad. I like the way I was able to get some what of a blade looking on the back side of the buckler. This will be nice when I have to throw an elbow to an enemy...But here are a few pics of the start of my Post Apocalypse Costume for next year's Halloween. I think I might go trick or treating in it...(ROFLMAO) Once completed....

Still need some cleaning on the edges, some shaping is still needed, paint and holes drilled. But I've got a start on the armor parts...One step at a time...(LOL)

It's rough. But it's a good start. Kind of reminds me of the Assassin's Creed armor a little.

Or at least what my 8 year says it looks like..

I tried to get pics from different angles so you'll get a nice full view. I did use just a regular hammer and the concrete steps to do a little shaping. The edges are pretty rough, but using a grinder to smooth out the edges so I don't cut myself on the jagged edges will help out in looks.

I have decided that the front and the sides up to the tapering off to the point will be covered by overlapping the leather. I do think I need to try and fold the corners of the from. This way there's nothing sharp cutting through the leather or me...

There's the start. Now have to find more time to finish the cutting....

looks good so far and the good thing about post apocalyptic cosplay is you can't fuck it up. the more janky and crappy it looks the better it is. not that it looks that way. although i just gotta say that more of a vambrace. a buckler is a small shield about the size of a hubcap. the forearm armor is called a vambrace.

Depends on what era you are referring too...Some of the medieval actors I know call them Bucklers also. But I figure "who cares what they're called" as long as I can make them look cool as shit...(LOL) I'll refer to them as armor, that way I don't offend anyone...(ROFLMAO)

Got some work to do on them. Thinking about shrinking them down about 2 inches in width. Just to make them a little more easier to to manipulate. Plus I picked up 2 more pieces for my costume today.

Went to work for a friend of mine that bought a house. He bought this damn thing cheap as hell. Anyways, I got the job of painting the outside of the damn thing. There was a ton of what some may call trash. I asked if I could scavenge through what was left in the house. I told him I was looking for pieces I need for costumes I was making for my kids. Kids are a great excuse for things like this. He told me sure. So I went through 3 rooms out of the 8 in the house. Found belt and I think it's a paintball mask. So I'm going to work them into my costume some how.

I would like to find a couple more like this one. The holes in this will be perfect for mounting the pouches to it.

I'm only placing like two pouches on this one. This is going to be like the main strap that crosses over the chest.

As for the buckle, I'm going to use it as a connection point for the other two straps...If it works..(LOL)

As for the mask, I want to do some mods to it. I'm just not sure what yet...

My nephew, who has some medical problems gets these nebulizer masks from time to time. Now his has the air cushion that goes around the edges. I could get on of them and attach it to the mask and make a funky looking kind of gas mask or air filter system. Might go with the air filtering system. Because I could use some of the tubing he gets and have them enter into the nose area of the mask. Paint the whole thing black.

Now don't worry, I'll use one of his old neb masks to make this part. He gets a new one once a month...So it's not like I'm leaving him without a way to take his breathing treatments. Couldn't do that to my 5 year old nephew. Specially when all I have to do is walk in and ask if he's bullying people again and he starts laughing...The picture below is of my bully...

My nephew John...He tickles the hell out of me when I call him a bully. Cause all he does is laugh...When I have to babysit him, he loves it. I'm a damn jungle gym and the comic relief and the music machine...(LOL) Talk about having fun when me and him get together. Hell, he'll sit in front of the TV and watch and give me fits when I'm playing Black Ops 2 Zombies in buried. If I go down he starts making his sound effects and wiggling his finger. Which means he's cusing me out...(LOL)

Anyways, here are a couple of pics of the mask I found scavenging...

diffenetly needs some cleaning. But after the cleaning, I still need to find a way to modify it...Just need to think for a little bit....

Oh hell, the smoke if rolling now...(LOL)

that is a paintball mask. and a very high dollar one to. i am surprised it is in such great shape. reason being paintballers put their gear throughtotal hell. a little spit and polish and that thing will look like new. a great piece for your cosplay outfit.

That looks like the start of a kick ass cosplay weapon. I think it should come out of a jacket or a sleeve. (Just my opinion.)

you need to post pics of this when completed. cant wait to see the finished product. that shield you mades from a sat dish will go great with what you are planning.

Yeah, I never thought about that. But yeah, that would be a good touch...Think I need to pull one of them our and see what needs to be done to it to compliment the outfit...Also thinking that The Rapture would be a good weapon to set it off...Think I might check into getting those holes drilled and finish the cut on the other side. I'm switching from a regular cross cut saw blade to a paneling blade. They are a little thinner and a whole hell of a lot more teeth.

Finish all that up and then get to work on cutting out the armor plates for my forearms and boots. Might just finish all the cutting tomorrow...Just have to wait and see how I feel after work...

you got a cool start my man keep it up. i like the addition of the oxygen mask and the paintball mask funky. now i gotta do some more to mine so as not to fall behind. i really want to take some license plates and make some armor out of them. if only i could fine a source for old license plates.

Search in google for old license plates...every now and then I get lucky with such a vague kind of search...Plus you might try checking your local junk yards and places like that. Even check some recycling centers...They may have some...

i always found scrap yards to be the best source for those.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
