YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!
so while researching for my zombie hunter con costume i fell in love with post apocalyptic cosplay. everything from fallout props to original works. it's just such a cool look and you can do anything with it. it requires little money if you know how to scavenge and helps prepare all of us for what it's gonna be like after they rise. i felt wickedzombies was a good place to bring this to help expand the site. so with all that in mind I'm going to be posting cool stuff i make and design here. and if you catch the bug or maybe if you already have it then i welcome you to post your stuff here too.

yeah I've seen that before, and thanks. i do have some pvc pipe i think is that size. but i don't got any shotgun shells i can hold. i wish i had some already fired ones to use as props.
I've seen somewhere on the net, that you can actually make some shotgun shell props using small lengths of PVC...I believed they used 1/2 inch piping with some beer bottle caps...I can't really remember how they did it...It was from some prop making site I used to visit trying to find ideas for my zombie movie...Which is still in the writing stages...Has been for like 5 years now....(LOL)
Anyways, most shotgun shells are about 3 inches long, or at least the ones I use are 3 inches in length...But hey, if I get some that have been fired, I'll set you up...I might be able to get some from a friend of mine...no promises though...He does reload his shells...
hey thanks man that would be awesome but i'll also look into making some fakes i think wooden dowels and washers might work.
That's what it was...Corrigated cardboard, washers and pvc pipe...The corrigated cardboard was used as wrapping to simulate the texture of and actual shell...(LOL) Leave it to me to snap a memory back from washers...(LOL)
cool I'll look into it. any ideas for the rest of the stuff on my wish list?
As for the rags
Tearing some old shirts, bandannas or even some old jeans and taking fabric glue and gluing them onto your pants and shirt...Instead of sewing them on, gluing them on withe fabric glue will let you keep the tear of the cloth visible...And if you want the sewing effect, using some blue fishing line and a fish hook will give you a good effect...
The Saw Blade staff
As for this, I would say leave it in the picture...Reason being, you'll cut your eye kid....(ROFLMAO)
Truthfully, I would go into the woods and find a good solid tree limb...Strip the bark off of it and let it cure for a week...Sand the piss out of it...Once you have it smooth enough to your liking, cut groves big enough for your blades, slide them in and bolt them in... As for aging it, the best way to age wood that I've found is burning it and letting it soak over night in what we call a coffee ground bath...Pretty much taking used coffee grounds and lemon juice and making a paste out of it, smear it all over the still burnt staff and rolling it up in some plastic and letting it sit for about a week or so...Unwrap, clean and lightly sand till all the ash and the coffee grounds are all off of it....Should have you a pretty cool looking staff....
(Note: if you don't want to use real saw blades right now, using two 5 gallon bucket lids, you can trace a saw blade pattern and then cut it out...They may spin, because you did make the cuts for real blades...)
The boot cover
It looks like someone just modified some simple boot harnesses by adding some leather...Which can be picked up on EBay or Amazon pretty cheap...
Emblems and Sayings
Check out one of those ID Dog Tags that you can get made at PetSmart...Specially when you can have it made for you and have whatever you want engraved on them...My kids got me one a few years back as a joke.....(LOL)
all really good ideas, love the fabric glue idea, save me a lot of time hand sewing. I'll try the tree limb idea "and what do i look like a Mary hell yeah I'm gonna use real saw blades". *he says in an old time 40s voice* i want to make the boot covers out of metal shouldn't be so hard. as for the emblems I'm going to engrave that Tesla one on to a hammer shaped piece of metal for a belt buckle. you can get an electric engraver for like 10 bucks. the other two i think I'm just gonna paint on.
hey what do you think of that homemade power respirator for my gas mask. i think it's gonna be my first project.
I think if you want, try making it in an ammo box...Two well placed holes and it could slide nicely onto a belt...Or you can actually get some JB Weld and attach two Alice clips to allow it to be worn on a belt...And you get a pack of 5, those you can get from Rhino....Plus if you get the right one, it'll have a nice rubber seal around the top to allow for a better air tight seal...And if you do that, you can actually place a small compartment in it just for your bags of ice, which will help make sure the electronics don't get wet and shorting out.....
I like the idea...Just make sure you make everything air tight...Using the BLUE not the red automotive gasket maker goop on every connecting area will make sure that's done...Now if you want to jazz it up, find an old fallen apart Bible and use the cover to cover the outside of the ammo box...Or get one of those bandannas from Rhino with the skulls to cover it...
As for the metal work for the boot, it'll look good, just remember that you'll still have to use leather strapping...Trust me, I'm finding out from experience that where ever the metal touches I need to add padding not to wear out the leather...Any where the bend of the foot happens, use leather strapping, because it'll be hell on your ankles and your feet, let alone the leather of the shoe...
My metal work is getting there for my boots...The back part that runs the back of the shaft has to be adjusted to allow the metal to flex or move without cutting my boots...
the idea of the ammo can is interesting but I'm wondering if maybe it will be too big, do they make ones about lunch box sized, that would be good. i like the idea for the second ice compartment but if the air doesn't flow over the ice it won't cool it very well. i was thinking of using those ice pack things full of blue liquid you put in the freezer. that way very little risk of leakage. condensation might be a problem though. and i was thinking of using a car seat belt. my dads a mechanic and hes gotten me seat belt material before. in fact i might still have some. need the buckle though. you know like what hipsters wear.
good idea with the boots i just skinned some leather off of an old cushion. i could use it for that and few other things. its not stiff enough to be used on its own but it does make an nice overlay.
I saw some plastic ones over at Wal-mart and those are a little smaller then your average ammo box...I think they might be about the same size if not a little taller...
ahh i don't want plastic thanks but i think I'll stick with the lunch box for now. maybe in time i'll make another out of an ammo can.
so i think i finally found the perfect thing to use as a chest piece. being a big guy kinda makes chest rigs hard. but then i saw this.
the idea of using car floor mats is genius, and my dad the mechanic can probably get me one easily. I'm going to armor it with plate metal and buckles to attach to my gorget.

Greetings Everyone, Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
