depends you want my idea for the perfect zombie survival retreat that i build from scratch before hand with unlimited money and man power, or where i would prefer to set up shop after zday has already happened using only what i can scrounge up or already have? because the two are very different.

my dream safe house would be on a deserted island with plenty of vegetation and wildlife it would be a compound at the edge of a 200 or large foot cliff over looking a beach. there would be several buildings all three story's high all made of simple concrete block's for strength and cost. no windows on the first floor, and only one foot wide ones on the other floors. one solid metal entrance door. reenforced. and on the roof all of the buildings would be connected by rope bridges. so if something happens you can still get around with out having to be on the ground. the buildings would split up into needs like community sleeping, storage utility's. things like that. their would assigned land for growing crops and raising live stock. and the whole place would be protected on the jungle side by a 4 story high wall made of concrete blocks. it will be double walled with room inside for the guards that will take shifts living with in it. except for the one vehicle accsess gate their will be no ways in from outside. all the doors to the inner wall will be inside. and their will be four floors with laders to climb between them and up onto the top of the wall for attacks. the vehicle entrance will be garage door sized chunk of two thick steel that movies up and down on tracks.

30 yards out side the wall will be a 12 deep 10 feet wide cement lined trench with spikes made from sharpened re-bar. their will pipes ever 50 feet that lead back behind the wall to a connecting pipe so gas or other flammable liquid can be poured into the trench for when it gets to full. a draw bridge controlled from the wall will be how vehicles can get across.

30 yards beyond the trench is a 100 foot reinforced chain link fence topped and lined with razor wire and possibly electrified. it will be equipped withe an automatic gate for the vehicles.

and finally 100 yards outside the gate will be three story high observational towers placed every 50 yards from each other. they will have radios to call back to base. and will be equipped with speakers and strobe lights so encase  of large zombie infestation they can act as distractions to keep them away from the compound, and in one spot for a cleanup team to arrive.

and for emergency escapes their will be ropes for repelling down the cliff face to boats that will be positioned at all times on the beach. their will also be a center man hole in the compound that will lead down to a three story underground bunker capable of supporting a small group of essentials for three months as well as an escape tunnel a hidden garage with a fully fueled car ready to take them to a secondary emergency boat.

and thats my ideal zombie retreat.

something very easy to defend and has high walls all the way around with only one way in or out to defend.

I thought this was interesting, what do you think?

Designed by Austin Fleming, the Vagabond is a portable shelter, which one could strap to their back and quickly set up to keep those brain-seeking zombies out of your way. The concept behind the Vagabond is that it would provide a complete safe haven from zombie hordes, thanks to its sturdy coiled dome structure, and its reflective shell.

The exterior of the shell helps the shelter camouflage into any environment, while at the same time, bouncing bright sunlight back into the zombies’ eyes. Sounds like it might help keep vampires out too. Inside the shelter, a ventilation system exhausts CO2, and battery-operated devices can be recharged thanks to the Vagabond’s photovoltaic surface cells. And want to know if the coast is clear or if there are zombies outside? Well, there’s an app for that.

About the only thing missing from the Vagabond is a way to kill zombies from inside the shelter itself. I’d want to have those cutouts they have on armored trucks, which let you fire a gun from inside. Of course, if you happen to have the strain of zombies from The Walking Dead, that’ll just attract more. Guess you could always try and fire a crossbow at the approaching undead.

Vagabond: The Zombie Safe House Shelter Of The Future by Sean Fallon on November 21, 2011 Bustler’s annual Zombie Safe House Design Competition recently concluded, and the winner this year was the ‘Vagabond Mobile Safe House Device’ by Austin Fleming. Features include a reflective photovoltaic surface (zombies don’t attack other zombies), portable (can be carried like a backpack), water filtration, wind-powered ventilation system and a tracking unit that’s iPhone compatible. Sounds far fetched, but it just might end up saving your ass from a zombie horde one day. INTERESTING IDEA very interesting, I'm just wondering how practical it will be in the real world. i would probably add a camera or at the very least a periscope. and yeah gun ports are a good idea.

FOR THE RICH & WEALTHY! US POOR WILL BE HUNTED DOWN!

The Perfect House For Surviving A Zombie Apocalypse Is For Sale

Situated deep within the Adirondack State Park in Upstate New York, this cabin was built atop a cold-war era missile silo and is currently on the market for only $1.75 million dollars. It’s basically perfect for surviving any sort of end of the world scenario.

The above-ground home is 2,000 square feet. But if you use the keypad entry to the basement, you’ll find 2,300 more square feet that was a former launch control center and has been converted with dining and entertainment space and two bedroom suites – complete with marble bathrooms. It has 10-foot tall ceilings, simulated daylight and an open floor plan.

Another view of the house.

Your own personal runway.

Stairway to the silo.

Tunnel to the silo.

Inside the missile silo. It’s 9-story structure where a missile was once housed. It’s currently empty, but would be perfect for underground condos.

yeah but it's not the only converted silo. there are a lot that people have retrofitted. now that their empty the govs got no use for them so relatively speaking you can get them cheap.

i got my digs already chosen. the old Ohio Prison.

it has 50 foot high walls, its own machine shop to fashion most anything needed right down to melee weapons, even has operational power generators and its own water supply. and best of all is the cells are still functional for use as individual living quarters. right now it is just a tourist attraction. but it can still be utilized to be a zombie proof fortress. had my eye on this little beauty for a very long time as a stronghold against the undead.

thats awesome if me and my guys can make it their i call cell block c.

consider it reserved for ya bro. lol

awesome

You have had this zombie proof fortress in your plans for years.

Been Awhile, BUt I'm still Alive

Greetings Everyone,    Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
