I think the skills necessary for killing undead hordes are found in people who may not fit into normal society.  Although I suppose there are exceptions such as ex military

you do have a point there, although anybody has the potential to be a hero when crisis arises (figure if a nerdy little scientist discovers the cure to end it all, hes a hero) but I understand from a survivalist standpoint, the majority of people who fit the mold are ones that have been to prison/grew up poor/take no shit and fear nothing/tough guys...I fit into a few of those afore-mentioned (grammer?) types myself...

i think we will see more heroes in more walks of life then most realize. i think we will see them from the working family man doing what he needs to do to protect family and friends. right down to the 89 pound HALO nerd with no life outside that game. it will all depend on the circumstances that arise as far as to who steps up to the plate.

yea I dont think the heroes are going to be the sterotypical characters in almost every zombie movie (well, maybe thats a broad generalization) but you know what I mean...and what constitutes a hero for that matter?

In the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, I imagine murderers, bullies and sociopaths will be the new heros for the remaining breathers.

yea the problem with that I think is that people like that will have no interest in helping others...theyd rather kill you and take what you have, the heroes will be ones that are in life, yes soldiers, fire fighters, doctors, hell even police officers (Im talking about the few that survive, not an army squadron or police force), when they succumb to the same level of survivial as the rest of us, they have that little internal urge to help...that and regular folks like us, weve talked about it enough to know that we would do the best we could to help as many as possible

Not necessarily. Not going to generalise all these types of people, as people are all different. Can't lump them all into the same category. But many people I know who match some of these stereotypes wouldn't really have the brain power to survive long term. They'd likely go in all guns blazing as it were and would most likely pick up bites in the process.
Sociopaths are usually quite cunning and very manipulative. I could see these kinds of people mostly dropping others into the shit to save their own hides. Not very heroic as a rule to be honest but, as I said before, don't want to tar them all with the same brush or be judgemental in any way.

I think that the most heroic types will be those who are resourceful, smart, selfless and hard nosed. Ex or current military/medic/fire brigade workers would probably make the biggest difference. But ultimately, those with the best survival plan, safehouse and supplies will last the longest.

I think that those who hole up long term in inner city buildings will be the ones to become over-run the quickest.

Think about it this way, you'd want to ideally stay within areas with the least amount of people present.

exactly. the suburbs or the country. but in the end like most animals. zombies will go where the food is. like wolves following the sheep or a great white shark following a seal colony. but i do agree with you. and thats not to judge all books by the cover you see.

   I believe those who you most unlikely think would be a hero will become heroes. But what do you consider a hero? We have all types of people out there and truthfully, I think we are all going to be surprised to those who become or have the label Hero placed upon them.

   We always think a hero will be brave, strong and selfless. How much you want to bet, the heroes in a Zombie outbreak will be some skinny ass, scared of his own shadow, timid little shit that even my 7 year old could beat up...(LOL) 

   We can speculate on who will or could be heroes just by their jobs, but I don't think that would be a way to classify a hero. I know cops, soldiers and even survivalists that are more scared of their own shadows then dealing with a zombie. Plus they'll worry more about themselves then trying to help anyone else. So using job descriptions as a way to figure out who will be heroes is a little out there.

   But we will see who the heroes will be.

I guess it would depend on how you view a hero.  If you are looking for someone to save you or just looking for someone who likes to kill zombies.  I would think people experienced with violence, like murderers and girls from Jersey, would do pretty well.

(LOL) Yeah SNooki would be my hero....(LOL)  

   But you do have a point on the murderers. The one problem with that, that I see, they would kill you and the zombies...But yeah, those with a violent tendencies, would become the hero...Guess that's why my family come to me when they need something dead...(LOL)
