Contracted

   I'm not to sure in what to say about this movie. I saw there was a part 2 to this film and decided to watch the first one. Well to my surprise, it was actually not to bad in my opinion. Yes there are some really rotten reviews write about this 2013 horror/thriller film by director Eric England. But for the most part it really wasn't all that bad. 

   Granted there was another film based a long the same lines, (Which I haven't seen yet). But as I watched this film, it kind of hit a nerve. We all know that the zombie virus is going to be transmitted through some kind of bodily fluid. We use biting or getting infected blood in an open wound or some other way of transmitting bodily fluids.

   Well, this film puts and takes a whole different twist to the transmission of the fluids. What if, in the beginning of the viral infection, instead of something we have all seen throughout our years in Zombie studies and movie watching, that the outbreak comes from those who have been infected by an S.T.D. Or better known as S.T.Z.V. (Sexually Transmitted Zombie Virus)?

After Samantha (Najarra Townsend), a lesbian, meets a man at a party and uncharacteristically has hazy, unprotected sex with him in a car, she awakens the next day with an advancing case of — you remember “World War Z,” right?  Samantha soon finds to her disgust that her eyes are growing opaque; teeth, fingernails and clumps of hair are coming off; a nasty lesion is growing on her lip; and her appetite for human flesh is mounting.

   England said that he began working on Contracted due to his wanting to "tell a story within the virus/infection subgenre like we've never seen before" and that he wanted to use sex as a plot device as it was something that "most people can understand and relate to".

   I actually figured out a few things just from watching the film. SOme people won't come close to seeing it, but at the beginning of the you must pay attention to the toe tag. Then watch as the slow and painful transformation from human to zombie begins to overtake Samantha. I found the movie pretty entertaining and made me think about the whole thing of transference...

   Anyways, I liked the film and hope everyone will take a chance and watch it on NetFlix this month...
