YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!
I know this was covered in the sites newer days. But since we have so many new people and fresh input. So with no further delay. I thought i would bring it to life again. So. Here is the topic that may hit home. LOL.
Okay. The dreaded by some ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE has just hit! That means there is no more booze pouring at Happy Hour at your nearest bar. The liqueur stores have been raided out and looted for all its contents. The DRUG STORE is also a bust because of those who raided for pain killers, antibiotics, and over the counter remedies. Now when it comes to the ILLEGAL stuff or prescription stuff. Needless to say the local DRUG DEALER will no longer be out on the corner selling his wears because of fear of being eaten. And all the places you used to get that coveted pack of MARLBORO'S like the gas stations and tobacco stores also has been hit and not a smoke in the place. And to top it all off. Your addiction of choice just got used up today and no sign of relief is in sight. What do you do now to feed that monkey you been growing for a long time now? My input. Kick any habits that can be used against you or get you KILLED. If its drugs or alcohol. Find a rehab and make it STICK! If its smoking. Get the patch and ride that horse to the sobering end. Point is you dont want to have any kind of killer habit or addiction that can be used to bleed you dry of needed things for trade or just plain get ya killed. Because if not. You could be face to face with this situation.
ADDICT: WHAT DO YA WANT FOR THAT BOTTLE OF WHISKEY?
TRADER: ALL THAT YA GOT!
ADDICT: WHAT DO YA WANT FOR JUST A SHOT OF WHISKEY THEN?
TRADER: ALL THAT YA GOT!
So. With my input on the matter said. Whats your input? What are you willing to do to either feed that monkey or get the little fucker chucked off your back for the sake of living to see tomorrow?

I don't drink much, so as for the alcohol it would be easy to forget it...I do smoke however...Now lets say your scenario is in effect, the smoking habit will most likely be broken within a week of not having any...
Plus two, it's been proven that after 7 days, any bad habit is broken and the thing replacing it becomes the new habit...
Now as for me, I've been hording pouches of tobacco with rolling papers and a few rolling machines...So I can see my habit being satisfied for a few months after...But once it's gone, it's gone...I think dealing with someone coming off of cigarettes is easier then dealing with someone Detoxing from dope or alcohol...
I think during the Z-poc smokers will be the illest fuckers, but after a few days, they'll be alright...As for those who are addicted to drugs or alcohol, I think they'll do anything and everything for their fix, so I see them going down hill and being taken advantage of by everyone...Hell, who wouldn't take advantage of a druggie?? Specially if they have things in which you need or want....
The only problem I see, most people are figuring out how to grow the stuff, from dope to tobacco to even knowing how to make their own whiskey...And it's not that hard, because there's a site that tells you how to turn a regular hot water heater into a moonshine still...
I just don't see the whiskey or the dope going out before, during or even after the TSHTF...Just going to cost you 20 times more in order to get it...
exactly my point. 20x higher. and if they can tell you are just dying to get it. then you can bet that the sheep shears are coming out and a fleecing is gonna happen. in my eyes. just not worth the risk. i would rather be addiction free way before the SHTF. that way nobody can get the jump on me that way. addicts are gonna be easy prey for two groups. other people and zombies. reason being even if they dont give in to the person wanting everything they have in trade for their addiction of choice. they may get stupid and think "maybe i can brave that infested zone and snag something" and their luck run out. maybe not the first time. maybe not even the second time. but sometime when they least expect it and they go into that one area that not even the most hard core zombie hunter will go into because of all the zombies. their luck will run out and they become a hot lunch for a couple of hundred stinkers. when i was young. like in my teens. i smoked. and i was not above taking a good hit from the bottle though i NEVER been drunk in my life. but as i became more into survival of the undead. i realized that nobody who was addicted to this kind of stuff stood much of a chance of survival. so i kicked it all. i never smoke now. if i drink one beer a year. then i can say i did some. lol. and NEVER in my life have i ever used the illegal stuff. so with all that stuff not being in my life. my chances are now better then average. and just for the record. there are some hopelessly addicted to nicotine because the tobacco companies having boosted the nicotine in tobacco before the FDA stepped in. and it only took like 20 years for them to do that one. lol.
I see where you're coming from...The cause and effect of every action...Plus I can the effect on the survival rate...But I can see a person, like myself, taking advantage of that need for the addiction that a person has and turning it into an asset...Specially sense in the WTS compound lawyers, judges and politicians will be used as zombie bait...Give them a few hits of PCP and send them in with a aluminum bat and a canteen of water and if they make it back they'll get their next fix...(LOL)
But yeah, I see what you're saying...But that's the one thing in which those of us who prep, would prepare for, (which I've been learning how to grow and dry out tobacco for consumption), while those who don't will be those suffering...
I see those dealing with the addiction part becoming raiders of compounds and encampments to forefill their need for that addiction...
So I can see where this would and could become a major problem for even those who are the leaders of any group or compound or camp...As to how to deal with it, I guess it would have to be left up to those who are in charge, but as for the individual I guess would be totally SHIT out of luck...
its being shit out of luck that i hope to prevent here. when this type of post was put up so long ago. i saw things like i would grow my own weed to make my own booze. then seen posts like this saying how they could make use of the addicts. i guess what i was hoping for was to wake up anyone with this type of addiction. reason being not everyone can grow their own or brew thier own poison of choice. and the last thing in the world i want to see is someone taken advantage of this way because of it. plus who's to say that for a long time there will even be any safe havens to grow or brew in? that could end up being decades away. so during those times. unless the monkey of choice is kicked to the curb. there will be a lot of innocent people made victims that need not be. who knows? maybe by reading this and the posts. it might make a few get chuck of the habit before a z-poc. one can only hope. lol.
wishful thinking the real addicts will never change the best they can do for the world is just die off, no mater how much you try to help them they'll never change.
I didn't see what you were trying to do until just now...Wow, I like the sutle way you tried see who would kick their habits.
(LOL) Talk about going over my head....And at 5' 9" aint to hard...(LOL)
lol. that short huh? lol

Greetings Everyone, Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
