Ok, here goes some of my findings on a few of these things...I'll use the number of the hack or DIY project in order to move it along...Some I have left off because in scouting we not only use them we also build some of them...
Lets start at the top...
#1 foam floor mats
This is a good idea, but more and more people who take up camping and hiking are switching
over to the air mattress. I would say this would be a good due to sometimes, no matter how much
we go over the area we are pitching our tents in, there is always something under the tent
that seems to find its way to poke you or someone inside the tent in the back or side. I'll
diffinently will give this a shot on our next scouting camping trip.
#4 Tin can Bread
This is going to be something I will try. Will try doing it on an open fire and will do
this at home in the oven. Trying it on an open fire might not work as well as at home baking,
but I feel this will work better with hot coals after the fire has died down. Just need to
get the timing down on how long it will take...It'll be something along the lines like
cooking in a dutch oven...You have to get the timing down on your cooking or you could be
eating burnt bread or other foods...
#5 Poison Oak, Poison Ivy and Poison Oak
Knowing the difference is a really good thing. But if you find yourself infected by anyone
of these, the best thing I can tell you is that Benedryl has a cream that actually works with
healing and stopping the inch and if you pop a few Benedryl pills along with the cream, you'll
get over it 3 times faster then going to a doctor. Though most will use the roads we have to
travel during the Z-poc, you won't have to worry about it. But those of us who live in rural
areas will know that traveling through the woods may slow us down a little, but it'll also
slow those dead fucks and even the living that is following your or our trail. But the Benedryl
cream can be found at your loval Wal-Mart in the camping section and in the pharmacy area. I
know this works because a few months ago I ended up in a huge patch of poison Ivy and poison Oak.
The doctor gave me an antibiotic which really didn't work. So I went and checked out the camping
section in Wal-Mart and ended up finding the Benedryl creme and figured I would give it shot.
And as I was walking up to the counter I picked up some Benedryl tablets. After suffering with
it for damn near a week, I took two pills and rubbed that creme on it and within a 4 days it was
damn near gone. Do not get the Benedryl ointment, get the Benedryl cream it works better...
#7 Snadpaper and match holder
The sandpaper will work with only strike anywhere, but will not work with the matches inside this
match holder. If you are wanting to create a match holder, Dollar Tree sells this little containers
that have a rubber gaset that seals it tight and locks on two sides. I've gotten a few of these. They
come two for a buck. I also picked up a box of 300 matches. I split the matches between each container
and I took the strikers on the sides of the match box and cut them to fit inside and under the lid
like they show in the pic for the sand paper.
I have tried taking anykind of match and have taken it across many different types of sandpaper
but none lit except for the strike anywhere matches.
#8 Coffe Container Toilet Paper holder
This is a cool concept. I never even thought about using something like this as a despenser for
toilet paper. This is a cool find...
#10 Tic Tac Spicees
Actually I like this one. But they can also hold small amounts of gun powder or whatever you
want to put in them. I like the spices because come the Z-poc these spices will be a very valuable
thing to trade with...
# 11 Two Person sleeping bag
This is a really good idea, not only will you be able to stay warm in the cold weather times by
using both you and your partners body heat, but this could really make a comfortable bed if alone.
#13 Antibiotic Pouches
I posted this awhile back I do believe. But this is not only useful for antibiotic ointments, this
could be used for a number of different types of medical or first aid creams or ointments. The best
thing about these is you only need a few straws, a pair of pliers and a lighter. You heat the pliers up
using the pliers and pinch the straw at the bottom of the size pouch you want, cut under the melted
together part of the straw and then fill it to 3/4 of the way full and repeat the process of heating
the pliers to close the top. Create for antibiotic ointments, first aid cremes, pills, lotions of
all kinds and if you're diabetic, this could also be a way to carry your insulin without it being
identified from those you end up raiding your supplies...It your insulin doesn't need to be kept in
a cold envorinment.
#14 Coffee Bags
This is a good idea. The portions in the picture are just a little much though. If portioned
properly, you should be able to make at least 3 coffee bags out of 1 filter. But it all depends on
how strong you want it to be I guess...
#19 Tree rack system
I like this idea as well. The hooks are easily purchase or even made. This is a cool idea, especially
when trying to figure out what to do with that extra belt or strap you've been carrying around with you
for about 6 months to a year. A tie dow strap in which you have cut the ends off of or never had the hooks
on would work great for this, specially if you are able to make a base camp for a few days, weeks or
even months...
As for the the rest you'll have to find out by doing them yourself.
I dont know if you did this with your scout troop yet Jessie. but if you have not yet. then your gonna love this. i have used it to cook anything from hotdogs to small game. its a solar cooker. the design is simple enough. here is a pic of the one i have made.this baby heats up enough to roast a small rabbit or squirrel with as well as hotdogs.

Greetings Everyone, Well it's been awhile. As things go, life carries us all in different directions from time to time but you always find your way home sooner or later. Well, life ain't all fun and games, but right now, things are going good. I have restarted my writing on my book again, and as I learn more about about some of the ROle-playing games I have gotten into, I am seriously thinking about rying to create an actual Zombie Survival Role-playing game. But have not set any time…
